My goal with this post is to put in writing some books I want to read, and then maybe some reviews. Hence this post is not fixed in time, and just like my Quote Garden, will evolve and change. I’ll try to only put books I would like to physically have in my library.
The Red Book of Varieties and Schemes, Mumford, 1999. Just a nice book, well-written, fast-paced, with a lot of interesting pictures and visuals. (Added on May 10, 2025)
Introduction to Commutative Algebra, Atiyah-Macdonald. Compact and with a lot of exercises (some would say it’s mostly exercises! - but they are well organized and really make you work through the slosh to get results, so it makes for a really good maths book; I mean, you won’t forget easily a theorem you spent three days working on).
